Returning...

I went back to work today after a nice 8-week "vacation." It was good to be back, but I do miss being home. A plus is that this week (and next week, too, I think) my hours aren't full day.
I know a teenagers who recently underwent quite a change. He grew him hair long for the past year. He kept being urged by his family to cut it, but you know some teenagers. Do the opposite of what your parents want... But it seems he really did want to cut his long hair, look like a mensch. His older brother took him to see the Sklenner Rebbe. I guess it was a tisch or something, but as the chassidim were singing, the young boy fell asleep. The chasidim started dancing around him and singing. Funny thought what the sight must have looked like! A bunch of men in bekeshes and hats around a boy with long hair, probably wearing jeans and a t-shirt of some sort. A day or two later the boy went and cut his hair. I don't know if it's connected to the Sklen occurence, but it's just interesting. And hopeful. He should be matzliach this year in his learning and fully return to Yiddishkeit.
May you all be written & inscribed for a year full of brocha and kol tuv.

Missing?!?The missing girls were found. Boruch HaShem. How many times are we missing? I don't mean in the literal sense: we know where we live, where we're going physically...but do we always know where we're going b'ruchniyus? That's a hard one.Elul is here.Time to decide."AYEKUH?" Hashem asked Adam. "Where are you?"It's that time of year. Time to decide where you are and where you're going. That's hard. Especially as a typical busy woman, with family, work, school...Anyone have any suggestions how we can make the most of Chodesh Elul? Please post LONG comments in the guestbook (link below) or email me if there's something really good you think I should post on my regular blogger page.A good day!PS Mazel Tov to EB & MH on their engagement! Procrastination

It's quite a common disease. It's not like you don't know what needs to be done. The dishes are piling up in the sink. The laundry basket is overflowing. The refrigerator is empty. The floors are dirty. The housework is just staring at you in the face.
So why isn't it done?
Okay, hopefully we don't ALL have ALL that to be done. But I'm sure all of you reading this have some sort of list of things to do. But, nevertheless, you're sitting in front of your computer screen reading this blog.
Procrastination. Is it a disease? Or, in this case, is it just a form of relaxation, a break from the mundane day-to-day work?
Let your own conscience decide.

If You Weren't Careful Before... On Friday I was making a cholent and was soaking the barley and beans. I noticed two worms floating on the top of the water. Eeewww....My husband said if I find one more, I have to throw out the whole thing. So I got curious and took out my bag of barley and started looking through the bag (I had just opened it that day, B"H). As I touched the barley around, we saw several more worms -- moving! Out with that barley and I got a new bag from the store around the corner. You can be sure I was EXTRA careful to check it this time! By the way, as I was writing this blog and eating some cereal, I poured myself some more cereal and I noticed on one piece a web of some sort...with something inside...Eeewww....I'll save it to show my husband. Maybe this is a sign I should go on a diet? I think I'll stick to chocolate and ice cream...I never saw bugs in there!

For someone who is quite "bz" now,
MAZEL TOV!
I'm quite happy for you - you can't imagine.
And, yes, in shock.
I really do hope that, as busy as you are, B"H, you will have time to read this and email me! I really want details.
Lots of simcha!

Chiggeroonies!

Mazel Tov to Aishel on his engagement!! I remember a couple of years ago thinking that he's a "kid"...I guess he's not that much of a kid if he's engaged! Mazel tov, best of luck, and you should be zoche to build a bayis ne'eman b'Yisroel!

It's mosquito season and my family is being kept quite busy. LOL. We were sitting outside the other day and were getting "bitten up." So we put on "Off". The mosquitoes like the backs of my ankles. They bite right through the socks or stockings I have on. Anyhow, a couple of days ago I noticed that I really got a lot of bites. I showed them to Mr. Mosquito and he said it was probably a rash. Hmmm...trying to figure out what I might be allergic to, I was "itching like crazy" (ok, a bit of an exaggeration, but I hate itchy bites/rashes!). The rash seemed to be spreading so I went to the doctor today (yes, down south) and she said they were chigger bites! I never heard of chiggers! Made me think of Winnie the Pooh with tigger....Anyhow, just an interesting point!
Scratch, scratch!

Have a wonderful week! We're heading back home in the AM.

If Only They Could Talk...

When you're taking care of a baby, you really come to appreciate your speech.
A baby can communication, but only in one way: waaaaaaa!
He's hungry, he's dirty, he wants attention, he's uncomfortable, he's in pain....
how does he tell you? waaaaaaaaaa!
And you, the caregiver, have to figure out what "waaa!" means.
When was he fed last?
A peek inside the diaper.
Holding him in your hands and rocking him.
And still....waaaaaaaa!!!
Maybe he's colicky....
Waaaaaaa..............
And then...he's asleep.
Sometimes you just wish babies could talk. But they will, in due time. And until they do, we just gotta try our best.
B"H.
