MAZEL TOV!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm done and sent out my 20-PAGE final paper. You know what that means??? As long as I pass, I'm DONE -- yes, DONE! -- my masters!!!! HOORAY!!
The 2nd thing that it means is that now that I don't have an "excuse" to be on the computer as much, I am going to try to cut down on my time online. I'm still here (at least, for now), just on less -- hopefully!
Next week our school is having a federal review - they have it every few years. So at work everything is hectic making sure everything is in order!
I have to start figuring out what I'm doing for next year...I love my job, but with my credentials, I can really do better. They do have better jobs at my work, but no openings at this point...Trying.... (I know what you feel like, a bit, Chanie...)
I made a blintz sou'ffle for supper...it smells so good! Mmmmmm.....
Ok, be in touch and sign my guestbook!
(PS...Chanie, I think I DID put a link on the side....at least I tried to!)

A Moment of Silence?
As I was about to prepare supper, I decided to put on a shiur. Going through the tapes, I found a case labelled, "S'firas HaOmer" and the name of a teacher from seminary. Then I realized that inside was a different tape - a rov we heard a few times in seminary, speaking on the topic of Yom Ha'atzma-ut...Decided, why not?
I only listened to the beginning so far, but it was interesting to hear the Rov's views on rememberances...I decided to post about it since yesterday was Holocaust Rememberence Day.
What he said is that Yom HaShoa and Yom Haatzmanut are to remember people who passed away...people who died to be Jews. However, the day these days are "celebrated" in Israel is against the way the people died. The minhag adapted, to have a moment of silence during a siren, has no Torah source.... Shouldn't a day commemorating Jews be done in a Jewish way?
(Just as an aside, these days are not for the dead. It's for the living...the dead don't benefit. A yizkor, a kaddish, is what helps them.)
Newscasters will video the streets of chareidi neighborhoods to see them going on their business during the siren...but does anyone ask WHY they go on their business? And if they do, do they believe them? Nah...anything for juicy stories on the media.
The Rov mentioned a year that his friend put shoe-polish a video camera...so on TV they showed footage from the year before...
There's nothing wrong with remembering. We should learn to live al kiddush HaShem....
So when the siren blares, if you're in Israel...try to be at home so no one will look badly at you for not following this goyish minhag. But if you are outside, stand still...so no one will judge wrongly, which they'll do anyway....

Mazel Tovs: in the Cycle of Life
Simchos are in the air -- may we share many!
My cousin had a baby girl the other day!! These cousins were married for over six years and had not had any children until they had a little boy. Now, a year and a half later, they were blessed with a little girl. I just found out that she was named after my grandmother: very special!
I attended a bar mitzva today. I remember the bar mitzva boy when he was just 3-years-old! Boy, how he's grown and how cute he looks with the curled payos in the front and the black hat on his head! He's a special little boy: he attends a school for learning disabled children. I always shep nachas to see how he's grown!
My husband is off to a friend's vort....The chosson is 41...It's never too late. Keep davening - hopefully you will get what you're praying for.... The gates of shamayim are never locked.
May we share many simchos together!

Pesach, Spring & Papers
Thanks, Chanie & Lauryn for checking this out. This hock is dedicated to the two of you! :)
So...Pesach was nice. We had the first seder at Dovid's Rosh Yeshiva. That was very special. The 2nd one, at my parents', was very nice, as well. I enjoyed my first s'darim as a married woman. My sister found Dovid's afikomin...If you knew what she asked for...LOL. She's so cute. (She's 15 and a great sister, by the way!)
It was a GORGEOUS day outside today. Spring seems to finally be coming. We went to the park for the first time with our kids. "Our kids" means my students - the 2 to 3 year olds. So our theme for the month is spring, and we wanted them to notice how the weather changed and that we wear different clothing...So as we were walking, I said, "Bassy, why is there no snow on the ground?" This adorable little 3-year-old said, "They shovelled it." How cute!!!
While Chanie's babysitting, I'm tutoring. Well, really I sorta babysit all day long. In a "caregiver"/"teacher" sort of way, y'know? But I did tutor a 10th grader in math tonight. I was embarrassed that I couldn't remember what point symmetry was (it's not the same as line symmetry...)! It's been too long! Although I taught 10th grade math 2 years ago, the curriculum was different then (it was Math II, while she's taking Math A), so I didn't teach this...and I don't remember it from when I was in HS myself! But the other stuff I basically remembered, which is good...otherwise, what type of help would I be as a tutor???
I'm still working on that 20 page paper...believe it or not.... It's really due this Thursday. I asked my professor a while back if I could have extra time which she agreed to, but I don't think she remembers...hopefully she's agree to it again, though. I have about 8-9 pages so far... YIKESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!! What else can I write??? Well, at least when that's done, I'm done with my masters!!
Well, as someone would say, "moooo!"
See you around!
