How would YOU feel?
How would you feel...if you were two years old...and all of a sudden you're uprooted from your home for over a week and you're staying at your friends home...You're only TWO years old..You don't know WHY you're staying here, if you're going back home and if you're going to ever see your Mommy again!
One of the kids in my class's mommy had a baby girl. Mazel Tov! I'm not saying the parents did anything wrong...But the poor boy has been away from home for over a week. We tell him he's going home soon...But you know the result? The kid started stuttering. Poor thing. :( Hopefully tomorrow, when he returns home, his speech will return to normal.

Perry once asked me to see some chasunah pics and I LOST THE LINK to a site someone sent me with tons of pictures he had taken with his digital. In honor of the end of Chanuka, a miracle! I found the link! So I'm going to try to see if I can post a few pictures...hope it works!

Sometimes you hear something and you just have to share it...
I'm listening to FTR.com. There's a song playing and it just got me smiling!! The music doesn't sound quite "frum"...maybe you know the song? "flippin' out" from "blue fringe.."
So it starts...he's walking down Meah Shearim...he hears a shriek...turns around and there are 2 seminary girls who haven't seen each other in a week!
It's so funny but it's true!! Don't we do that sometimes, upon seeing someone? Could it be it causes eyes to look at us, when unnecessary? It just got me thinking... how careful we should be....
The things you learn from a song.... (yeah, and he's wearing a white shirt and learning yeshivishe shprach...)
yo! 3 updated today! ;)

South Street Seaport
At my job, they give out these cards to all the families. It allows a family to go free into a bunch of places: museums, parks, zoos, etc... So the teachers also got this card. It encourages families to spend time together. It's so cool!
Last week we went to Botanical Gardens to see the place covered in snow. Normally most people won't pay money to go see a garden that you can't see because it's covered in a sheet of white...and we DIDN'T have to pay, thanks to the card...and it was STUNNING! (couldn't stay too long, though, cuz our toes got numb!)
So today, as I had off for Chanuka, we went to South Street Seaport. A lovely area and there's a museum there (that we got to go to for free). We went on a boat and looked around. It was neat.
Then we came home and then I went to a little get together at my grandfather's house. (check out Gishmak's website!!)
It was a lovely day!
A freilichin Chanuka!

HaKoras HaTov
When someone does something good for us, the proper thing to do is express our appreciation.
Saying thank you doesn't have to be difficult. The expression of the lips does a fine job. A note is fantastic, as well.
Sometimes people like to show their appreciation with gifts or money. One child in my class's parents gave me and my assistant watches for Chanuka. Although it was unnecessary, it was an expression to say: thanks! We appreciate that you watch our child and look out for him.
You don't have to buy a gift to say thanks. But showing your appreciation, your hakoras hatov, is a wonderful midda we should all try to instill within ourselves.
Post ideas that you have to show appreciation for others!

Puppets and Muppets
Yesterday we had a Chanuka party with the kids & the mommies. It was such fun. There was even a puppet show. A couple of kids were scared (what do you expect from 2-4 yr olds?) but most were FACINTATED!
I came home EXHAUSTED! I fell asleep for like an hour and then made a "quick" supper.... Tonight I'm much better. Making a salmon loaf (smells yummm) and a soup!
It was so cute...you had to be there....so this one kid, her mother was out of town and she came today in the same shirt as yesterday (chocolate covered). So we're wondering if this is tatty's doing, cuz they're outta clean clothes already, or cuz "miss princess" didn't let tatty put on anything else!
At the end of the day, we were going to the bus and I noticed she's walking a little funny...and I realized her tights were all the way down. it was so funny!! I guess it had never been picked up the last time she had her diaper changed. LOL. It was just so cute.
I want to go to the GYM today....I haven't been so good about it lately. So now I MUST email a professor and then I MUST go. If you see me online before 7 PM, YELL at me.
But regardless of the time you read this, please leave me feedback!

Brighton Beach in the snow...ah, what a site! The birds are congregating, the waves are high and the view is breath-taking! What a nice date I had this afternoon. It was even worth the numb toes!

Sleep and Chanuka
Feeling terrific! As I munch on a chocolate chip cookie....last night I slept about 10 hours. Sometimes you just gotta turn in early and it will make a world of difference! Try it sometimes!
I started teaching the kids about Chanuka. I realized that they really haven't experienced many Chanukas...just two in their lives, but they were babies - so what do they remember? I showed them a picture of a menorah and asked them what it was and one kid said, "fire." So we're prepping them with "this is a menorah" and "this is a dreidel," etc. We also bought dreidels and played with them with the kids!
Have a great rest of the week!

Be Careful!
I wanted to add a note about the snow. My husband told me that he heard a story that once someone did not clear the snow off the TOP of the car. The family was driving down the highway and the snow began to melt and a bunch came falling down the windshield, which caused them to crash. The whole family was killed. The reason I'm telling you this extremely sad story is that PLEASE be careful and clear off as much snow as you can from the top of your car!
Also, when I went to the dinner Sunday night, it was at the Brooklyn Marriot. It brought back memories of my dating days... ;)
G'day!

Random Thoughts
Motzei Shabbos we had my mother's best friend's son's bar mitzvah. After the beautiful snowfall we had Friday and Shabbos, our car was covered! I helped my husband uncover the car and take off the ice from the windows. I felt so "accomplished" as usually my brothers & father always took care of this stuff!
I was worried that a lot of people wouldn't come to the bar mitzvah because of the weather. But B"H what a turn-out! People even came from Crown Heights, Queens and Monsey! The little 13 year old was quite adorable...you know how sometimes they're still quite small? He has these pudgy yummy cheeks and the hat on his head!
Sunday we went to the yeshiva dinner. It was really nice. Food was pretty good, too, and I had good company at my table. Yay! Kollel wives!
I had work today. I'm tired, but what do you know? I'm in college. If you remember, my professor cancelled my last class and pushed up the final, which we took last week. Welllllllllllll..........I got a message yesterday that the head of the dept. told our professor that he can't cancel class and we have to come in...so much for that! So here I am... a few minutes early, so I'm doing my updating!
I was on the bus and I overheard a conversation that went something like this...A woman was telling another woman about a company party she had attended the night before.
"Oh, and you know X, the Jewish girl? She was there and she was wearing a short skirt."
"Really? Are you sure?"
"Yes, I think it was a skirt. It was quite short."
"I'm surprised. She's usually so conservative."
"Yeah, me, too. Maybe she decided to jump the gun this year."
You know what?? They know more than the Jewish girl knows that she was dressed inappropriately! They expected MORE from her, because they knew her as a fine, modest girl! Can you imagine goyim speaking that way? It really made me think! I wish this Jewish girl would have heard...
Well, I guess that is about all for now. Please leave me your comments!

Hiya! It's Thursday evening...wow, I haven't hocked since Sunday? I just noticed! I've been making it early nights lately. I'm sure CC is very proud of me!
So we have a bar mitzvah Motzei Shabbos. My mother's good friend's son. That's exciting. Gotta stop off at a s'forim store and pick up a gift certificate at some poing.
School is going great! The kids are delicious! One little boy, his mother mentioned in a note to us that he sings the song "Racheim" by Schwekey. You wouldn't guess from how quiet this child is in school! Anyhow, that day (which was yesterday) we were listening to a tape and the music to racheim came on. I picked up this kid and started dancing with him and singing, "Racheim....Racheim Nu HaShem Elokainu...Racheim...." And you know what? Later that day he started talking to us! My assistant says it's probably because of the dancing. Today he spoke, too. Sometimes you just need some Schwekey to knock the shyness out of a kid, eh?
Wishing a safe trip to Mr. and Mrs. Sunshine! We can't wait to see you! And maybe...just maybe you can bring some warm sunshine along to heat up cold New York?? :)
Oh, and Stammy just found out who "I" am...LOL.
Wishing you a WARM and inspiring Shabbos!
